Waste prevention starts with design
Plastic waste is increasing rather than decreasing. Now the EU wants to tackle this persistent problem with a consistent "zero waste" policy.
This EU target poses a major challenge for manufacturers, because the product design and material composition of many everyday and packaging products currently do not allow recycling at all: they often still consist of materials and layers that are difficult or impossible to separate. In addition, some plastics contain additives that greatly reduce the possible uses of the later recycled material (recyclate) in new products. UNDA's product design follows design-for-disassembly principles. The UNDA was designed from the start to last long, be repaired and be taken apart without tools. On average, each person in Germany uses 210 single-use PET bottles and 130 single-use cups per year.
What this means in practice:
• The UNDA multifunctional bottle is manufactured in Switzerland using hydropower.
• The UNDA can be repaired with individual spare parts. It is a robust, durable, reusable, multifunctional bottle made in Switzerland.
• The UNDA consists of polypropylene, not to be confused with the single-use plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET). A thermoplastic material (resin code 5), with a silicone sealing ring that can be removed by hand.
• The UNDA is also harmless from a health point of view. The polypropylene used is free from hormonally active substances and plasticizers such as BPA (bisphenol A) and free from phthalates.
• The 3-in-1 system combines bottle + box + cup in one product, so you don't need two additional containers.
• The UNDA is particularly easy to clean thanks to the uniquely wide opening. That's why it gets used often.
• The UNDA is assembled by a Swiss inclusive workshop near the production site.
• The UNDA is not individually packaged.
• At 175 grams, the UNDA is lightweight. The low weight also means that it is carried along more often than, for example, a heavy glass bottle.
